(Chicago, April 25, 2013) – The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) Foundation has honored Jo Anne Corbitt, CPM®, Vice President of Property Management with Colliers International, Nashville, TN, with its J. Wallace Paletou Award. Presented to Corbitt at IREM's recently concluded 13th Annual Leadership and Legislative Summit in Washington, DC, the Paletou Award recognizes individuals who make outstanding contributions and show extraordinary dedication to the real estate management industry.
IREM® Foundation Vice President Gail Duke, CPM®, who presented Corbitt with the award, commented: "Jo Anne is the first women to be presented with this award since its inception in 1971 and there is no one worthier of this recognition. In addition to being the recognizable face of IREM locally, she has been an instructor for the local Realtor Board, the Tennessee Association of Realtors (TAR), the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the local apartment association, and IREM. She has represented our industry by serving on her city's Public Housing Board and Housing Codes Appeals Board and as the local Chamber of Commerce's designee on the Board of Directors of a local Community Development Corporation. As well, she currently is a member of her local and state Apartment Association Boards and is Secretary-Treasurer of The Housing Fund, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that assists mainly first-time home buyers."
Observed Bert Mathews, a partner with Colliers International's Nashville office, "Jo Anne has been an integral part of our company for 13 years, and there's no question that she's the best in the business when it comes to property management. She is very deserving of this award, and the entire company applauds her for this achievement."
Corbitt has spent her entire career in real estate management. She has served IREM in a variety of capacities, both locally and nationally and, in 1997, was the organization's National President. She is a licensed broker in the state of Tennessee and has been an active long-time member of the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors (GNAR), TAR, and NAR. She has served terms on the national Executive Committees of both IREM and NAR, chaired the TAR Education Foundation, and was its "Faculty Member of the Year" in 1992. As well, she is a recipient of IREM's Lloyd D. Hanford Distinguished Faculty Award.
