Financial Institutions Regulatory Practice
Description:
Current economic events, including bank failures, have led many real estate management companies to re-examine the stability of the banks holding their cash deposits, as well as the regulations that govern those deposits. Economic events also have resulted in changes to FDIC deposit insurance coverage.
David E. Teitelbaum, a partner in the financial institutions regulatory practice of Sidley Austin, LLP will review considerations of which real estate management companies holding deposits in escrow or trust accounts must be aware. He will also review the changes to FDIC coverage. Questions to be discussed include:
- "What are the various forms of coverage under the FDIC program?"
- "What do you do if a financial institution holding funds in escrow, security deposits, or cash accounts for your company fails?"
- "Does it matter if you hold escrow funds, security deposits, and cash accounts at the same bank used to hold your personal deposits?"
- "How can you take advantage of recent increases in federal deposit insurance coverage?"
