IREM STUDENT OF THE YEAR
This year, IREM launched the Student of the Year program to provide recognition to a college/university student that has shown academic achievement in their studies. IREM is proud to announce Robby Waldrop as IREM’s 2013 Student of the Year! As IREM’s Student of the Year, Robby will be given the opportunity to attend IREM’s 2013 Fall Leadership Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.
Robby is pursuing a degree in Business Management with a Specialization in Real Estate and Minor in Computer Technology at the University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa. Robby will have all expenses paid to attend IREM’s Fall Leadership Conference and receive a recognition plaque.
STUDENT ESSAY COMPETITION
College and university students enrolled full-time in real estate or related degree programs are invited to take part in an essay competition sponsored by IREM and the IREM Foundation.
Entries are to focus on what employers can do to attract newcomers to real estate management and support them in the early stages of their careers? The submission deadline is December 16, 2013.
The winner will receive a cash reward of $500, a recognition plaque, and paid expenses to attend IREM’s Leadership and Legislative Summit in Washington, DC on April 5-9, 2014.

FALL CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The IREM Foundation funds scholarships to enable several college students to attend the Fall Leadership Conference in Scottsdale, AZ. Tying in with IREM Foundation’s mission of workforce development and cultivating ethical, professionally educated property managers, these students will be given the opportunity to learn about the industry and network with professionals from all over the world. Scholarships cover:
- Registration to the conference
- Flight and hotel accommodations
- Up to $250 for meals/expenses

IREM develops relationships with colleges and universities in an effort to make real estate management a career of choice among students and others entering the workplace. Here’s some information on two schools that IREM has relationships with:
University of Baltimore’s Real Estate and Economic Development (REED) program prepares graduates for careers in real property and offers a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate and Economic Development. Graduates gain a comprehensive set of business skills and learn all about facets of real property, including marketing, community development, financial evaluation, and law. Housed within the University of San Diego’s (USD) School of Business Administration, the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate provides lifelong learning opportunities to the San Diego real estate community and beyond.
