Shannon Alter, CPM^®

Shannon Alter, CPM^®, of Santa Ana, CA, will serve as the 2011 and 2012 Regional Vice President for Region 11. During her two-year term, she will have oversight for the activities of nine IREM^® chapters in California and Hawaii.

Ms. Alter, CPM^® is the principal of the Alter Consulting Group, Santa Ana. With over 25 years of experience, she is an expert in the management, operations and leasing of shopping centers and office buildings. She has created and developed property and asset management departments for a developer, an anchor retail tenant and a 1031 syndicator, both regionally and nationally, handling a 34,000,000-square foot portfolio. And she has a proven track record in helping businesses increase client, tenant and customer satisfaction, develop successful marketing solutions, and facilitate best practices through effective leadership.

Ms. Alter earned the IREM-conferred Certified Property Manager^® (CPM^®) designation in 1990.  She is a National Faculty Member for both IREM and the American Management Association (AMA) and has taught courses both nationally, and in international venues including Russia, Ukraine, China and South Korea.

Alter also is a speaker for a wide variety of national associations, among them IREM, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and International Facilities Management Association (IFMA). She has authored over two dozen articles, and her column, “Marketing Solutions” appears regularly in the Journal of Property Management (JPM^®). As well, she has authored two books, Strategies for Working with Small Tenants (2009), and Say it with Success: Foolproof Ways to Improve Your Presentation Skills (2010).
