Sheila A. Austin, CPM®
Sheila A. Austin, CPM®, of Southfield, MI, is serving as the 2009 and 2010 Regional Vice President for Region 3. During the two-year term, she has oversight for the activities of nine IREM chapters in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Austin is the founder, owner and president of Wedgewood Property Management and Consulting, LLC, headquartered in Southfield. Before starting her own company, which manages residential communities in Southeast Michigan, Austin was vice president of new business development for PM/Midwest, Milford, MI. Prior to that, she was vice president and general manager for the Dearborn Group, headquartered in Chicago, and vice president of the Fourmidable Group, Farmington Hills, MI..
Austin has been active in IREM since 1985, both locally and nationally. She has served in leadership positions, including that of president, with IREM’s Michigan Chapter No.5, and was honored by the chapter in 1998 as “CPM® of the Year,” and then again in 2002 with a “Special Recognition Award.” Nationally, she has served as an IREM Governing Councilor, and as chair of IREM’s Membership Committee and Ethics and Discipline Committee. As well, she has been a long-time member of the IREM National faculty, teaching courses that lead to IREM’s Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) and Accredited Residential Manager® (ARM®) credentials.
Austin earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in education and taught in the New York City school system for over 13 years. In addition to her CPM® and ARM® ® credentials, she is tax-credit certified and holds a Broker’s license.
