Webinar: Managing Green Design of New Construction (NC) and Managing Green Performance of Existing Buildings (CIEB) - (hosted by Green Building Initiative) |
|
Register for CIEB and New Construction web seminars
Time: 10am PT | 1pm ET
Duration: 60 minutes
Price: FREE
Presenter: Sharene Rekow, Vice President of Marketing/Sales, Green Building Initiative (GBI)
Who Should Participate:
New Construction: Architects, Engineers, Construction Professionals
Continual Improvement of Existing Buildings: Architects, Building Owners/Managers, Facility Managers, Sustainability/Environmental Directors
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, buildings emit more CO2 than any other industry. Therefore how buildings are designed, built, and managed not only affects their performance and energy savings but ultimately their impact on the environment.
Green Globes® an online rating and assessment tool for new construction and existing buildings, provides an ongoing continuum to not only design, quantify and improve new projects and major renovations but to measure a building’s performance as well.
Choose one, or both, webseminar(s) to understand Green Globes ongoing cycle of constant green building improvement.
Managing Green Design of New Construction
- The Green Globes New Construction tool provides building sustainability assessment, education and feedback at each phase of the design process incorporating life cycle assessment into new commercial buildings.
Managing Green Performance of Existing Building
- Effectively manage "green" performance within one or a portfolio of existing buildings. Green Globes CIEB helps establish baselines, prioritizes and plans the right improvements and monitors success.

Webinar: Green Building Tax Incentives (hosted by KBKG) |
|
Date: Ongoing monthly
Time:
9 a.m. PT, 10 a.m. MT, 11 a.m. CT, 12 p.m. ET
Description:
Designed for real estate professionals and CPAs who are new to the energy efficient commercial building deductions originally enacted in 2005, this course is a practical, broad-based overview of this recently extended deduction. Originally, set to expire in 2008, this provision was extended for another 5 years as part of the economic bailout bill passed by Congress.
Your instructor will provide an in-depth background of the most current information, including recent developments, building components that are affected, how the deductions are achieved, steps to identify potential, and other related tax saving opportunities. With sustainability and renewable energy becoming a more important part of doing business, CPAs and real estate professionals who can identify these opportunities will be able to uniquely maximize value for their clients.

Webinar: What Matters in LIHTC Acquisition Rehab (hosted by NAHB) |
|
Date: March 25, 2010
Time:
12 p.m. PT, 1 p.m. MT, 2 p.m. CT, 3 p.m. ET
Price: Non-NAHB member: $89, NAHB member: $59, HCCP designation holder: Free
Description:
With the affordable housing portfolio aging, there is a greater need to devote resources to rehabilitate these properties. In addition to older HUD deals, some Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects developed in the early years of the program are in need of repair and recapitalization. State Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) are responding by devoting a greater amount of resources, including LIHTCs, towards the preservation of their multifamily portfolio.
Industry experts will highlight some of the main concerns and issues for LIHTC developers and property managers to consider when acquiring and rehabilitating an existing property. Topics will include:
- Researching the existing market
- Due diligence issues when acquiring a property
- Typical capital requirements
- Opportunity and challenges with existing financing sources
- Compliance issues and best practices
