Chicago, IL, April 22, 2004 - “Successful Strategies for Winning Negotiations,” a professional development seminar for real estate management executives, will be held June 17-18, at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center, Chicago, IL; June 24-25 at Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, Washington, DC; and Sept. 23-24, at the Westin St. Francis, San Francisco, CA. Designed specifically for experienced real estate management professionals, the seminar is co-sponsored by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business, Center for Urban Land Economics Research.
SEMINAR FOCUSES ON SKILL BUILDING
The seminar will prepare attendees to deal successfully with their most challenging negotiating problems through interactive exercises to strengthen both preparatory and face-to-face negotiation skills. Drawn from typical real estate negotiating contexts, the exercises will build expertise in proven-effective techniques that can be applied in various negotiating scenarios, including:
- Commercial and residential leases
- Real estate purchase agreements
- Contracts with builders and developers
- Settlement agreements
- Agreements with planning commissions and other local government agencies
- Agreements with lenders, investors and creditors
- Negotiations involving multiple parties
- And more.
WELL-CREDENTIALED INSTRUCTOR
The seminar instructor is S. Richard Heymann, Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School and Institute for Environmental Studies. He is also a fellow with the UW-Madison Center for Urban Land Economics Research, is listed in Who's Who in American Law and The Best Lawyers in America, and has been a popular and prolific speaker and writer on a variety of real estate and legal topics for many years.

The cost of the two-day seminar is $715 for IREM members and $895 for non-members. It includes instruction, seminar materials, a reception, continental breakfasts each morning and refreshment breaks.
