The Hanford award is presented periodically to a member of the IREM faculty who has exemplified extraordinary dedication to the educational process and the advancement of knowledge in the real estate management profession. It commemorates the direct contributions of Lloyd D. Hanford, Sr., one of the Institute's early presidents and a founder of the IREM real estate management education program.

He has helped to rewrite IREM courses, pilot new ones and has trained new faculty members
Goodacre served as president of the Greater Phoenix Chapter of IREM in 1983 and received its “CPM of the Year” award in 1984 and again in 1987. Nationally, he served IREM as chairman of several committees, as a regional vice president, and as senior vice president of the membership admission, education, legislative and chapter activities divisions.
Goodacre has been a broker in the State of Arizona since 1979, has served on the legal arbitration panel of the State Bar of Arizona, and on numerous occasions has been a court-appointed receiver. He was state chairman of the Arizona Multihousing Association in 1993 and served as regional vice president for the National Apartment Association in 1993 and 1994.
Active in his community, Goodacre served for eight years on the Fiesta Bowl committee and for three years on the board of the Phoenix Symphony. He earned his B.S. degree in finance, with specialization in real estate, in 1970 at Arizona State University.
