Chicago-Based, International Organization Marks 75th Anniversary With These and Other Tributes

Chicago, IL, May 28, 2008 – Mayor Richard M. Daley and Governor Rod R. Blagojevich have proclaimed June 1-7 as Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Week in Chicago and statewide, respectively, in observance of the Chicago-based, international organization’s 75th Anniversary. In addition, congratulatory letters acknowledging the group’s milestone anniversary have been issued by Illinois Senators Dick Durbin and Barack Obama, Rep. Danny K. Davis, and government officials from other cities and states where IREM’s 80 U.S. chapters are located.

“Since its founding here more than seven decades ago” said IREM President Regina Mullins, CPM, “our organization has been a major force in educating real estate managers, in certifying their competence, in enforcing ethical business practices, and in serving as an advocate on issues affecting the industry. And while times were quite different when it was formed, IREM’s core purpose remains the same: To advance the profession of real estate management while helping real estate managers prosper and add value to their companies and the properties they manage.”

Both the Daley and Blagojevich proclamations recognize IREM, an affiliate of the National Association Of Realtors®, as the premier provider of quality education to real estate managers around the world. In addition, they laud IREM members for:

  • Improving the quality of life for the people who live, work and shop in the properties they manage.
  • Pledging to adopt sustainable building operating practices to help ensure that the properties they manage are environmentally responsible, healthy places to live, work and shop.
  • Adding value to the properties they manage and enhancing the tax base for the benefit of the community at large.

IREM has a chapter in Chicago and one in Central Illinois, located in the Springfield area.
