(Chicago, Oct.26, 2007) – The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) launched a year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary at its just-concluded annual Fall Meetings held in San Antonio, TX. Many national and local initiatives will take place throughout the coming year that reprise the organization’s rich past and historic achievements. They also will highlight IREM’s ever-growing role as a global leader in educating real estate managers, certifying their competence, enforcing ethical business practices, and serving as a strong voice on industry-related issues. Yardi Systems, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance software solutions for the real estate industry, is a major sponsor of the anniversary celebration.
Commenting on the significance of the anniversary milestone, IREM President Regina T. Mullins, CPM®, stated: “We believe that well-managed properties improve the quality of life for the people who live, work and shop in them and, at the same time, build asset value for owners and investors. To these ends, and since our founding more than seven decades ago, we are proud that IREM and IREM Members have led the effort to transform real estate management into a highly valued profession that effectively serves the interests of all of its constituencies.”
FOCUS ON SPECIAL “IREM WEEK” ACTIVITIES
According to Mullins, IREM is committed to maximizing the significance and impact of the anniversary observance for IREM Members, whom she credits as being “the driving force behind the organization’s longevity and success.” So IREM Headquarters – joined by its 81 U.S. chapters and eight international chapters – is planning various programs to celebrate the professional development, camaraderie and other benefits that define the IREM membership experience. As well, members will be engaged in anniversary-related industry and community outreach activities and receive a specially designed diamond anniversary commemorative pin.
Some anniversary activities will be spread out over the coming months. However, many – particularly at the local level – will take place from June 1 to 7, 2008, designated by the organization as “IREM Week.” IREM Week “happenings” include chapter fundraising activities for local charities; events to honor national and chapter leaders past and present; joint educational and other programs with industry peer groups; and 75th anniversary proclamations issued by mayors and governors.
CELEBRATION TO CULMINATE IN IREM’S FOUNDING CITY AND SITE
IREM’s year-long celebration will culminate with a Diamond Anniversary Gala at its 2008 Fall Meetings, to be held from October 14-16 at Chicago’s Conrad Hilton Hotel. The Hilton hotel site was previously occupied by the Stevens Hotel, where IREM’s founders gathered in 1933 to launch the organization and sign its charter.
