WHAT:
As many of you know, the Capitol Hill Visits Day is an opportunity for IREM and CCIM Institute members to meet with U.S. Congressional Members and lobby them on important commercial and residential real estate issues.
WHERE:
This year’s lobby day will be held on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, April 18; there will be an orientation on April 17 from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm (time to caucus with your region from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm) at the J.W. Marriott Hotel (same location as last year).
WHO:
You! Last year roughly 350 IREM and CCIM Institute members took to the Hill and we are excited for yet another successful and exciting year! Now is the time to start spreading the word on this event and get members excited for Capitol Hill. Please reach out to your chapter members and contacts and encourage them to join us at the Hill Day!
The 2012 Capitol Hill Visit Day issues are:
Multifamily and Commercial Mortgage Market Liquidity: Covered Bonds and Credit Union Lending
Taxes and Real Estate: Carried Interest and Internet Sales Tax Fairness
Mark your calendars for the 2012 IREM Capitol Hill Visits Day, held in conjunction with the IREM Leadership and Legislative Summit at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The 2012 Capitol Hill Visit Day issues have been finalized. IREM, CCIM, and NAR legislative staff are currently in the process of finalizing the issues briefing papers and will be posted shortly. Please check back as information will be released weekly.
Please note these issues are subject to change.
START PLANNING!
Below, you will find the 2012 Capitol Hill Packet filled with information on the Hill visits, including how to schedule an appointment with your respective Congressional member, a planning timeline, what to expect and much more. If you are your chapter’s Legislative Coordinator, you need to determine who your 2012 Chapter Capitol Hill Coordinator will be. If you are the Chapter Capitol Hill Coordinator, you should begin to make contact now with your respective legislator’s staff in order to secure a meeting with the office on April 18. This process will take time, but introducing yourself to them now will get you and your chapter members on the radar.
