Michael T. Lanning, CPM®, is IREM’s representative to the executive committee of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). He is a member of the IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) executive committee. Lanning is also senior managing principal at US Asset Services, LLC. in Kansas City, MO.
Lanning has been in the commercial real estate business for more than 30 years, managing, leasing and selling for owner investors and occupiers with total property value more than $1 billion. During his career he has worked on office, medical office, industrial and retail properties, with an emphasis on office. In addition to spending 25 years in leadership roles at CBRE and 5 years at Cushman & Wakefield. Lanning launched US Asset Services in May 2018, with a focus on managing government occupied properties throughout the country.
Though his professional accomplishments are plentiful, Lanning is most proud of his involvement with IREM. He received his CPM designation in 1995 and is a long-time member of IREM’s Kansas City chapter. He also served as IREM international president in 2017. The road from CPM to IREM past president has been filled with numerous local and national leadership positions, education, growth, and most importantly, friendships. Lanning knows firsthand that being engaged in the industry, and in IREM, can provide unlimited rewards.
In addition to his involvement with IREM, Mike is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), the Kansas City Area Development Council’s Life Science advisory board, and on the Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association. He also volunteers with organizations such as the Dream Factory, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Harvesters.
Lanning is the proud father of two millennials and occasionally finds time for his favorite hobbies, golf and skiing, preferably in Park City, Steamboat or Vail.
