Susan Monaghan, CPM, is the 2018-2019 Regional Vice President for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for Region 1 encompassing chapters in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. She is the Executive Director of the Cumberland Housing Authority.  For more than 30 years, she has specialized in the affordable housing industry working in both the private and public sector.

Monaghan joined IREM in 1982 and earned her CPM designation in 1983. Besides serving as Chapter President in 2007 and 2008, she has served on and chaired various committees including Education, Public Relations, ARM, CPM and AMO Admissions, as well as the Executive Council at the chapter level.  She continues to co-chair the Education Committee.  Monaghan is a two-time recipient of her Chapter’s CPM of the Year Award.

Nationally, Monaghan has been involved as a member of the Diversity Advisory Board since 2008 and served as its Chair in 2014.   In 2014, she was appointed to the Federal Housing Advisory Board and served as its Vice Chair for 2016-2017.  She was a Governing Councilor from 2010 – 2015 and is again serving on Governing Council with a term that began in 2016.

Monaghan is a member of the IREM Greater Rhode Island Chapter.
