Joseph Greenblatt, CPM, is the 2014 president of the Institute of Real Estate Management. As well, he is president and CEO of Sunrise Management, headquartered in San Diego, which has earned IREM’s prestigious Accredited Management Organization (AMO) credential. In his role at Sunrise, Greenblatt directs the day-to-day operations of the company, its portfolio of more than 12,000 residential units, and its 350 employees officed in San Diego and Sacramento, CA; Tempe AZ; and Las Vegas, NV.
Greenblatt has long been active in IREM’s San Diego Chapter No.18, and has served in numerous chapter leadership positions, including that of president. He was the chapter’s “Certified Property Manager (CPM) Candidate of the Year” in 1991 and its “CPM of the Year” in 1994.
Greenblatt also has been active in IREM at the national level. He is a member of the IREM national faculty, has served as chairman of its national Ethics Hearing and Discipline committee, and as an IREM senior vice president with oversight for the organization’s educational programs and activities. He is the recipient of two of IREM’s national service awards, the IREM “Key Award” in September 1993, and its “Past President’s Award “in 1996.
In addition to his involvement in IREM, Greenblatt is a member of the board of the Bobby Jo Lewis Foundation, a non-profit (501(c)3) organization. He also serves on the Real Estate Committee, an advisory group, at the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego. As well, he is a member of the National Apartment Association (NAA), NAA’s San Diego Chapter (SDCAA), and the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC).
