(Chicago, Feb.18, 2013) –A sampling of 51 Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) chapters across the U.S. shows that they contributed approximately $555,700 in cash – plus donations of food, toys and personal time – to charitable organizations in 2011 and 2012. Funds were generated through a variety of means including chapter-sponsored golf outings, raffles, silent auctions, casino nights, and picnics.
Local health and social service agencies led the list of donation recipients; others included the Special Olympics, Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, food banks, support groups for wounded warriors, the IREM Foundation, and several more.
“We are pleased and proud to be able to document some of the extensive efforts by IREM Members to give back to their communities in these very tangible and meaningful ways,” said 2013 IREM President Elizabeth (Beth) Machen, CPM. While we were generally aware that these fundraising efforts were underway, their collective impact is much greater and more far-reaching than we anticipated.”
