New IREM Whitepaper Looks at Critical Leadership Skill of Team Building

(Chicago, March 7, 2013) –Building and managing teams is one of the top skills essential to real estate management success, according to the findings of a recent survey of 800-plus top real estate management professionals conducted by the Institute of Real estate Management (IREM). A just-published IREM whitepaper, the second in a planned series focusing on leadership-related topics, highlights just what it takes to assemble and sustain successful teams.
Titled simply “Leadership Development: Building Teams,” the whitepaper explains the role emotional intelligence plays in the initial stages of team building and stimulating high levels of participation, cooperation and collaboration among members to achieve goals and operate cohesively. It clarifies the difference between a team and a workgroup, and provides insights and “how to” information on topics including:
- Essential conditions for team effectiveness
- The stages of forming a team and the leader’s role
- How the team leader can grow and support team growth
- Specific actions that can be taken to be a better team leader
