IREM Webinar on Top Legislative Issues of Concern to Commercial Real Estate Open to All

(Chicago, March 11, 2013) –The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) is sponsoring a one-hour webinar – Tues., April 2, at 2:00 p.m., Central Daylight Time – that will take an in-depth look at three federal legislative issues that could have major impact on commercial real estate practitioners and their clients:

  • Carried interest
  • Lead-based paint in commercial buildings
  • Internet sales tax

Part of IREM’s aggressive legislative advocacy program, the webinar requires advance registration, is free of charge, and is open to practitioners across the real estate industry spectrum. It will be anchored by Charles (Chuck) Achilles, IREM’s Chief Legislative and Research Officer. Achilles has spearheaded IREM’s legislative efforts at the federal, state and local levels for more than 35 years and interacts frequently with members of Congress and various governmental agencies.

The issues addressed during the webinar will be the focus of visits to Capitol Hill by IREM Members on April 10, in conjunction with IREM’s 13th annual Leadership and Legislative Summit in Washington, DC. Last year, more than 265 IREM Members participated in more than 213 Hill visits with legislators from 32 states, contributing to recent positive legislative results for commercial real estate in areas such as lease accounting, carried interest, lead paint and the extension of the National Flood Insurance Program.
