2016 REME Award Winner: CPM of the Year Rita Hernandez

May 30, 2017 | IREM Staff

Rita Hernandez, CPM, has a broad range of estate, property/asset management, leasing, construction management, and business development skills. Having earned her CPM designation 23 years ago, she is continually working to advance the real estate management industry. Passionate about diversity, she founded an Annual Diversity Luncheon Program which ran for 14 years and featured prominent speakers addressing diversity subjects. Her recently started social media industry awareness campaign includes a “CPMz Rule” Youtube channel, and “The Face of IREM”, which features interviews with CPM and other prominent property managers talking about their jobs and contributing factors to their success. Hernandez believes that both IREM and her CPM designation have played a very significant role in her career and personal life.

“By participating in IREM committees and attending IREM events, it has enabled me to increase the pace of my learning trajectory during my formative years because I was working alongside professionals that were more experienced than me and willing to teach me. IREM is an important part of my life because in addition to friendships, I discovered my passion for diversity through mentoring and advocacy,” states Hernandez.

When asked, “What three things make you proud to win the 2016 REME Award for CPM of the Year?”, Hernandez answers, “I’m proud to be part of a group of people that are unique to the management industry, I’m proud that I’m able to be a role model for the Latino community and I’m proud I can leverage this new status to speak about the management industry and benefits of IREM.”
