IREM Signs On To Tax Reform Comment Letter

June 6, 2017

On June 1st, 2017, IREM and 20 other real estate industry organizations submitted comments to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means regarding tax reform efforts.

The letter not only addresses the importance of a healthy real estate industry to the economy, but also several key issues including carried interest and 1031 like-kind exchange tax provisions. Both of which are 2017 IREM Public Policy Priorities. IREM members also discussed 1031 like-kind exchanges with their federal legislators as part of the 2017 IREM Congressional In-District Meeting program.

It is critical that we continue to educate our federal legislators about how current and proposed tax policies affect the industry. While many do not expect tax reform details to be finalized for several months, we will continue to monitor the progress being made.

More information can be found in the full text of the letter submitted to the Committee on Ways and Means.
