Information we collect
We gather the following information needed to process your transactions/purchases, fulfill your requests, learn about our visitors, and maintain our membership and customer records:

  • Contact information – mailing address, phone number, email address

  • Information you may voluntarily provide via applications, professional or personal profiles, support calls, or our online shopping cart

How we use the information we collect
Publish members in our online membership directory

  • Improve and customize the content and layout of our site and other communication tools, such as newsletters and the Journal of Property Management (JPM®)
  • Notify you of updates to our site
  • Notify you of relevant programs, products, and services
  • Notify you of upcoming events
  • Track usage of our site
  • Assist local IREM chapters in membership tracking and for their use for purposes similar to those listed above

IREM does not share, sell, or trade email addresses to third parties, except:

  • To IREM Industry Partners, provided such information is part of the negotiated agreement
  • To coalitions formed for the advancement of industry interests in regulatory or legislative activity
  • To exhibitors and sponsors of nationally sponsored meetings/conferences
  • When required by law or valid legal process

Your right to control your information

  • When you log in to with your username and password, you may do the following by linking on My Profile:
    • Edit your contact information, including mailing address, phone number, and email address
    • Update your professional and personal profile to help us serve you better
    • Edit your online member directory information (for IREM members only)
  • Visit our email preference center to choose the communications you want to receive or to unsubscribe from
  • Cookie Data – We use “cookies” (small text files sent by your computer/device each time you visit our site, unique to your IREM account or your browser) or similar technologies to capture and analyze log data. When we use cookies or other similar technologies, we use session cookies (that last until you close your browser) or persistent cookies (that last until you or your browser delete them). For example, we use cookies to pass your login preferences while navigating the website and app, so you don‘t have to set them up every time you switch sections or navigate away from the cart. Some of the cookies we use are associated with your IREM account (including information about you, such as the email address you gave us) and other cookies are not.


Our site contains advertising placed by advertisers pursuant to IREM policy. We do not control the advertisers, the sites of third parties reached through links on our site or their information collection practices, and IREM will not be responsible for the activities of these third parties. Advertisers may use cookies to collect certain non-personally identifiable information when you click on the banner ads appearing on our site. This information is collected by the advertisers for purposes of measuring and reporting on the advertising to advertisers and IREM. They may also aggregate the information for certain other statistical and reporting purposes.


We maintain security procedures and standards which we believe are as safe as today’s technology permits. We test these procedures and modify them regularly as new technologies become feasible.

Information that you and credit authorizers provide when you make payments by credit card for purchase of products, member dues, or other services are encrypted and will only be used to process the transactions you request. This information will never be sold, shared, or provided to other third parties.

We do not request nor do we use social security numbers in the course of our business with our members or customers except when required for IRS purposes or when required for state licensure continuing education compliance. In those cases, social security numbers are encrypted and only used to process the transaction requested.
