Proptech Insights Survey: Review the results

IREM’s annual survey explores how and why property managers are using proptech. The survey focuses on building-level technology and reveals insights around the use of drones, 5G technology, smart contracts, and other technology applications in real estate management.

  • Over half of respondents have implemented some type of proptech at their properties
  • Drones/photogrammetry remain the most widely used technology. Use of drones for conducting inspections was over 2.5 times more common than the previous year
  • Difficulty of determining ROI was the biggest hurdle when implementing new technology, followed by overall cost and integration of multiple systems
  • Property management teams remain key players in proptech decision-making, either alone or in collaboration with other departments
