In the third installment of this series, Kathy Harmon will help us to the next step of Starting a Property Management Company.  At this point you are committed.  You have likely secured some contracts or have enough in-house business to support your new company.  The contracts are ready.  Now it’s time to dive into the details.

Learning Objectives:

  • Think about how much office space will you need
  • Can it be in a building you own or that is owned by one of your clients
  • How to avoid conflict of interest if possible
  • Can the space expand or contract as needed
  • How to interview, do background checks and tender offer and find Plan B
  • How to notify existing tenants, new rent procedures and contacts
  • How best to prepare for a bit of chaos

Kathy Harmon is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®), and an Accredited Residential Manager (ARM®), designations awarded by the Institute for Real Estate Management (“IREM); a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA); and a Certified Residential Manager.
