This presentation will discuss the impacts of increased insurance costs on affordable housing providers. The content is based on research findings from a national survey of affordable housing providers conducted by ndp analytics for the National Leased Housing Association in 2023.

Learning objectives:

  • Review changes in insurance premiums, rationale for premium increases, and actions taken by housing providers to mitigate increased operation costs due to the current insurance environment.
  • Delve into housing provider's experience with policy renewals for commercial property, general premium liability, and excess/umbrella liability insurance.
  • Explore trends over the past three years; the research covers insurance policy renewals from 2020-21 to 2022-23.
