Debbie Santano, CPM, serves on the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Executive Committee. She is the Director of Property Management with Brandywine Realty Trust in McLean, VA.

Santano, a native Washingtonian, has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry and has held positions with premiere local developers, as well as, large national third-party commercial real estate firms. She most recently joined Brandywine Realty Trust, a large, publicly-traded, full-service real estate investment trust in the U.S., which has an office portfolio of 233 properties totaling 29.6 million s.f. She oversees the commercial property management team in the Washington, DC region, responsible for approximately 5 million s.f., eight direct reports and a team of 60 property personnel.

Santano began her career in commercial real estate working for two prominent local owner/developers, The Oliver T. Carr Company and Kaempfer, where she worked in property management positions for mixed-used and commercial office properties in Washington, DC. For the last 20 years, she has held positions with Barnes, Morris Pardoe & Foster, Insignia/ESG, Trammell Crow, CB Richard Ellis, and Cushman & Wakefield, and has managed many product types including office, retail, and industrial properties.

She has been the recipient of BOMA’s The Office Building of the Year Award, commonly known as the “TOBY” and serves on the Board of the Apartment and Office Building Association, which is the local BOMA arm. In addition, she has held local, regional, and national leadership positions with IREM, including Past President of IREM’s Northern Virginia Chapter #77, Past Chair of IREM’s Region 3 Education Committee, Regional Vice President of Region 3, representing six IREM chapters), and Chair of the National Membership & Credentialing Committee. She holds a CPM designation and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the National Louis University.

Santano is a member of IREM Northern Virginia Chapter 77.
