Diversity & Inclusion Succession Initiative (DISI)

DISI Leaders

DISI is a career development program designed to support those pursuing their CPM® certification. The program is open to IREM members and employees of AMO® firms, with a focus on members of marginalized identities or backgrounds.

Established in 2009 as Diversity Scholars, the program was renamed DISI (Diversity & Inclusion Succession Initiative) in 2019. Thanks to a generous grant from the IREM Foundation, up to 20 DISI Leaders are selected each year.

Why apply?

DISI Leaders will receive:

  • Complimentary enrollment in a cohort only, Live Online ETH800 course (or Canadian Equivalent – REIC2600) to meet the Ethics requirement for IREM Certifications.
  • Complimentary registration to PropertyCon in Austin, Texas; April 7 – 9, 2026.
  • $1000 travel allowance to attend an IREM education event.
  • A curated “connection tour” that provides meaningful introductions to IREM members matched with participant’s region, asset class, and career goals, to help participants grow a strong and diverse network.
  • Recognition at IREM events, in IREM publications and on social media.
  • Special invitations to networking and leadership building opportunities.

Who’s eligible?

IREM members and employees of AMO firms. Participants must demonstrate a commitment to earning an IREM credential. Preference will be given to individuals of marginalized identities who demonstrate an interest in engaging meaningfully with the IREM community.

What is the program timeline?

If selected, DISI Leaders agree to actively participate in the year-long cohort. This breaks down to approximately 1 hour per month of meeting time. A preliminary outline of the schedule is below:

  • February: DISI Leaders notified of selection, DISI Leaders orientation conducted (virtual)
  • April 7 – 9: PropertyCon in Austin Texas
  • TBD: Community calls and “connection tour” to build your network among fellow DISI Leaders and other IREM members.
  • TBD: Cohort only ETH800 (Live Online format) which meets the Ethics requirement for IREM Certifications.
