Applications to serve on a 2023 standing committee/advisory board will open in Spring 2022.

IREM standing committees and advisory boards help guide and support the various products, programs, and initiatives that make IREM relevant, support members, and grow. If you want to join IREM’s volunteer community and make the organization and the real estate management profession better, start by exploring what committees and advisory boards you can get involved in.

Things to know serving on a standing committee/advisory board

  • Terms vary from 1 year to 3 years, as noted in composition.
  • All terms begin January 1 and end December 31.
  • The roles, responsibilities, and expectations of serving on a standing committee/advisory board, include:
    • Attend and actively participate on all virtual meetings scheduled throughout the year for all groups you’re assigned to – attendance and participation are tracked.
    • Attend the IREM Global Summit (fall).
    • Participate in activities as defined by your assigned groups’ scope of work and act in good faith and in accordance with what is in the best interest of IREM.
    • Review all agendas and relevant material prior to meetings and be prepared to contribute to discussions and vote on important issues.
    • Assist your assigned groups in achieving its goals.

  • What would be my commitment as a committee/advisory board volunteer?
    • Attend and actively participate on all virtual meetings scheduled throughout the year for all committees and boards – attendance and participation are tracked.
    • Attend the IREM Global Summit (fall).
    • Participate in activities as defined by your assigned groups’ scope of work and act in good faith and in accordance with what is in the best interest of IREM.

    • Terms are typically for 1 year, unless otherwise noted.
  • What are the terms for committee/advisory board members?

    Committee/advisory board members serve a 1 year or 2-year term, depending on the volunteer group’s composition. Terms begin January 1 and end December 31.

  • What expenses are covered for committee/advisory board volunteers?
    • All expenses related to attending the IREM Global Summit are the responsibility of the volunteer.
    • All expenses related to attending in-person committee/advisory board meetings (outside of the IREM Global Summit) are covered by IREM.
  • How and when are committee/advisory board members selected?
    • All interested members must submit an application by the deadline; late applications will not be considered.
    • You will be notified of the status of your application via email after the IREM Global Summit.
    • If appointed, you must accept your appointment via the link you receive and by the deadline in order to activate your assignment for the following year.
    • If you do not take action to accept your assignment and/or do not wish to accept the invitation to serve, the appointment will become invalid, and you will be removed from the group.
