2026 Presidential message from Mindy Gronbeck, CPM®, CCIM

Mindy Gronbeck, CPM®, CCIM

Hi, I’m 2026 IREM President Mindy Gronbeck.

I’ve had decades of experience managing properties, and over the course of my career I’ve cultivated a deep appreciation for the work of property managers to make our lives easier, safer, and better.

Property managers are the quiet force behind every successful building — the protectors of value, the problem-solvers in chaos, and the stewards of relationships.

While our work often goes unnoticed, its impact is undeniable. Owners may never know the fires we’ve put out or the hundreds of decisions we make every day to keep things running.

But we know. We know the weight of the keys we carry.  We know that every “yes” or “no” holds real power. We know that how we show up, how we lead, and how we react becomes our legacy.

This profession tests us — but we don’t break.  We rise.

This is our moment to be recognized and respected, and to remind the world that we have always been essential to creating value for our owners, investors, and clients.  And while technology evolves, one truth remains: property managers — human property managers — are essential. AI can streamline parts of our work, but it cannot replace the human element that builds genuine connections. Technology can support us, but it cannot replace us.

My passion for this profession, for IREM and for our shared future comes from knowing what happens when property managers are empowered, educated, and supported.

We rise higher.  We lead with integrity. And we prove our value every single day.

That’s why my theme for 2026 is “Our time is now.”

Our time is now to step into the spotlight — not just as managers of buildings, but as leaders of people, protectors of investments, and essential voices in every community.

Our time is now to lean into education that strengthens us, and to champion ethics that guide us.

Our time is now to support the IREM Foundation as it invests in scholarships and workforce development for the next generation.

Our time is now to advocate for policies that strengthen our communities.

Our time is now to volunteer, to serve, and to build the leaders who will carry this profession even further.

And most importantly, our time is now to remind ourselves — and the world — that property management is not just a career.  It’s a calling.

There is strength in our choices. There is resilience in our stories. There is power in our presence. Together, we will rise.

Because our time is now.
