Olivia Garber Named 2019 IREM Student of the Year

Chicago - (June 14, 2019) –The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), along with the IREM Foundation, is very pleased to announce that Olivia Garber has been chosen as the 2019 Student of the Year. Olivia recently graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Property Management. In addition to her degree, Olivia has held internship positions with major real estate firms Kettler in McLean, Virginia, and with Camden Property Trust in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The IREM Student of the Year program recognizes an outstanding college/university student who has demonstrated a record of academic achievement and interest in pursuing a career in real estate management. Olivia has been named to the Dean’s List every semester at Virginia Tech, and she’s completed research projects on:

  • Affordable housing in the U.S. and the U.K.
  • The impact of sustainability practices on building operating expenses
  • The effect of aging architectural control guidelines on home values within a homeowners association.

She takes a big-picture view of our industry and has a natural curiosity that will be invaluable as she continues to establish her career in real estate management.”

The award includes an all-expenses paid trip to IREM’s 2019 Global Summit in San Francisco, California. Olivia will be recognized at the Inaugural Gala Dinner and REME Awards ceremony Thursday, Sept. 26. In addition, Olivia will be recognized in IREM publications and on IREM social media channels.
