Green Building Coalition Certifies 15,000 Projects as 'Florida Green' Tallahassee Democrat (07/17/17) Bonts, Mike

The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) this summer reached a major milestone by completing more than 15,000 green certified projects in the state. FGBC has certified commercial buildings, single-family residential developments, and high-rise residential buildings. Achieving certification provides numerous benefits to builders and developers, including energy performance that exceeds code requirements and reduces energy costs, reduced water usage, utilization of native plants and minimal site disturbance, use of healthier and resource-efficient products and materials, and enhanced ability to withstand natural disaster and pests such as termites. FGBC uses independent third-party experts to review construction so owners can be assured their structure will perform as expected in critical areas.
