UK University Creates Solar Generating Glass Bricks Global Construction Review (08/18/17) Quirke, Joe

Researchers from the University of Exeter in England have created a solar power technology that can fit into glass blocks. Buildings that incorporate the technology will be able to generate energy while also allowing daylight to enter. The solar blocks, which also act as a thermal insulator, work by using optical elements to focus sunlight on solar cells. The researchers designed the blocks so they can be built bigger or smaller depending on construction needs. The researchers are currently looking for sites to test the technology to prove its effectiveness.large scale.
